600,000 Facebook Accounts 'Compromised' Every Day

Facebook is the largest social network in the world. It is the third biggest "country", after China and India. As it stands, it has 800 million active users. Facebook has time and again come under heat for security and privacy concerns.

MSNBC.com has reported that 600,000 Facebook contacts are compromised everyday. Facebook tries to defend itself, by saying "only 0.06 percent of 1 billion logins per day are compromised". No matter how you look at it, 600,000 isn't a small number. These "compromised accounts" then set the foundation for misbehavious, cyber bullying, scams and other cyber criminals.

One should protect their accounts better to ensure that we're not one of the "600,000" accounts to get compromised.

Note: Facebook wants it known that these accounts weren’t hacked or compromised on Facebook itself, they are compromised off site, such as through phishing scams, for example.
