Five In-Demand Skills for 2012

Computerworld undertook an annual forecast survey of 353 IT executives. Nearly 29% of the respondents said that they plan to increase their IT staffing through next summer. This is up from 23% in 2010 and 20% in 2009. 

The surveyed said that the following skills will be in demand:

• Programming and Application Development – 61% plan to hire for this skill in the next 12 months, up from 44% in 2010 survey.
• Project Management – 44% plan to hire for this skill, up from 43% in 2010 survey.
• Networking – 35% plan to hire in Networking, down from 38% in 2010 survey.
• Business Intelligence – 23% plan to invest in professionals with BI skills, up from 13%
• Security – 17% plan to hire Security professionals, down from 32% in the 2010 survey.
