ITU ( international Telecom Union ) estimates show that there are 2.1 billion active mobile-broadband subscriptions in the world till 2013 , this is people with a 3G or 4G connection).
Meanwhile there were 176 million LTE ( Long term Evolution or 4G number) users by 2013 ,compared to 90 million in 2012. However by 2017 the number of LTE users across the world is expected to number about a billion..and would account for about 1 out 8 mobile connections .A recent Ericson report " projects that 85% of the world’s population will be covered by high-speed mobile networks by 2017.In the United States, LTE networks cover 90% of population, compared to 47% in Europe and 10% in Asia
