However by 2017 the number of LTE users across the world is expected to number about a billion..and would account for about 1 out 8 mobile connections .A recent Ericson report " projects that 85% of the world’s population will be covered by high-speed mobile networks by 2017.In the United States, LTE networks cover 90% of population, compared to 47% in Europe and 10% in Asia

Users with mobile broadband consists of 29%of the global population, and mobile broadband subscriptions have grown 40% YoY over the last 3 years years Mobile broadband today outnumber fixed broadband subscriptions by a ratio 3:1
