For some time everyone has been watching the end of Americas  once famous  City of  Detroit " where Auto Giants once  proudly strode. However these days no one seems to  care anymore as the Motor down  became  the poorest state of  US  with 42.3 percent of its population living below the poverty. In  Flint,Michigan 38.9% live below poverty line .
Coupled with that  Detroit has some of the highest crime rates in the United States, with a rate of 62.18 per  1,000 residents for property crimes, and 16.73 per 1,000 for violent crimes. 
Detroit's murder rate was 53 per 100,000 in 2012, ten times that of New York City.A 2012 Forbes report named Detroit as the most dangerous city in the United States for the fourth year in a row
Outlining a brief history of the city in an upcoming issue of Urban Studies, the economics scholar John F. McDonald puts Detroit's manufacturing woes into statistical perspective by comparing them to six other hard-hit cities in the region
