comparing TV sets unveiled by LG, Samsung, and Sony during CES 2017.

CES 2017 is a launch platform for 2017's new televisions, ushering in a new wave of TV tech that will eventually make its way into your living room. It's so often been the proving ground of many important TV technologies over the past few years, including 4K, Dolby Vision, HDR and Quantum Dot.

With new technologies including QLED and Nano Cell as well as advancements in HDR, 2017 can once again be seen as a pivotal year for home Television.LG's new lineup of Super UHD TVs feature Nano Cell technology, which provides a  wider color gamut, and dramatically improve the TV viewing experience for those who aren't sitting directly in front of the tube.

Three of LG's 2017 models (SJ8000, SJ8500, and SJ9500) will feature nano cell film, which works similar to quantum dot sheets found in Samsung HDTVs. At 60-degrees off-axis, viewers should be able to see 95 percent of the color gamut. The nano cell film will also help in reducing glare on the front of the panel, so it will be easier to see images in brighter environments.

The new LG range supports every HDR format under the sun: HDR10, Dolby Vision, Hybrid Log Gamma and new Technicolor Advanced HDR. They'll arrive with webOS 3.5, the latest iteration of LG's TV operating system.

Samsung introduced a new TV technology at CES 2017: QLED. It's Samsung's own version of OLED, and stands for Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode. The new TV range boasts between 1,500 to 2,000 nits peak brightness, which makes them more than capable of handling HDR content. The Ultra HD Premium specification only asks for a minimum of 1,000 nits.

Meanwhile not to be outdone Sony showed of  its new series of  OLED TV  during CES 2017  which is  both stunning and unique in equal measure. The Sony Bravia A1 Series OLED comes in 65 and 77-inch screen sizes, has Dolby Vision HDR tech support and features the Sony X1 Extreme picture processor which so successfully drove the Z9D last year.
