With approximately 43 million hectares of land devoted to organic agriculture across the globe, demand for organic produce is still stronger than ever before. In 2013, worldwide sales of organic products reached $72 billion, according to a FiBL-IFOAM report. The United States is the biggest market for organic food ,with retail sales amounting to $26.7 billion. Germany was in second position with $8.3 billion while France rounded off the top three with $4.8 billion. However, the EU as a whole did come close to matching the US in 2013 with organic retail sales worth $24.56 billion.The countries with the most organic agricultural land are Australia with 17.2 million hectares, Argentina with 3.2 million hectares and the United States with 2.2 million hectares.
