Attachmate Corporation is to buy Novell for just shy of $2 billion. The investment-group-owned Attachmate values Novell at $6.10 per share, which is a 9% premium on the closing stock price last Friday.
It has also been announced that Novell has entered into an agreement to sell intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings. The consortium of technology companies - organised by Microsoft - will pay $450 million in cash.
