What has Microsoft changed, and Why?

Microsoft has reinvented their certification program to inculcate the advancements in Cloud Computing. Below is a brief overview of what’s changed in Microsoft:

  1. A simplified certification model that consolidates credentials into 3 main skill levels: Associate, Expert, and Master.
  2. New certifications requiring broader coverage of multiple technologies, and not tied to specific product versions.
  3. Compulsory Recertification to ensure skill are up-to-date for professionals.

The aim for the overhaul in Microsoft Certification Program is to:

  • Make it easier for employers to identify credentials that match their company’s needs.
  • Make it easier for IT professionals to plan their career path, and decide which certifications to pursue.
  • Provide IT Professionals and employers competencies relevant to Cloud Computing.  This is done by Microsoft’s re-introduction of MCSE.
