The majority of this growth will come mainly from new subscribers from asia pacific, and this would account for more than 50% of mobile subscriptions globally, Ericsson forecast in a June report. Globally, smartphone subscriptions reached 1.9 billion in 2013 and are expected to grow to 5.6 billion in 2019. Mature markets like North America and Western Europe will continue to stagnate as new growth is expected to come from people adding extra subscriptions, such data plans for tablets.
