3 Cisco CCNA certificates to boost your career in Networking

    By

The CCNA is a consistently well-regarded industry certificate, assessed and supported by Cisco, an industry behemoth with 45% market share for products in the networking and communications sectors. The CCNA is an immensely popular certification amongst network professionals, but why should you actually bother with it?

A CCNA cert will not only prove and document your own knowledge, you’ll demonstrate to your boss that you have the skills and drive to progress in your career. It could even be that crucial bargaining chip to secure a raise. Having one of the CCNA certifications on your resume will help you stand out from others when applying for the same job and proves to the hiring manager that you have the requisite skills in networking.

Any one of the CCNA certifications could be the jump start you need to move up in your career.

    Cisco CCNA Security

Prerequisites - Any valid CCENT, CCNA Routing and Switching, or any CCIE certification.
The CCNA Security certificate demonstrates to organisations that you possess valuable skills involved in the implementation and maintenance of secure networks and server architecture.

With an increasing number of industry and government compliance mandates becoming necessary, even a basic level of network security can prove critical in accelerating your career. Complying with well-known security standards can provide a massive bonus to organisations; who are often more than willing to pay for someone with the skills – In the UK, Network Security Engineers earn an average salary upwards of £48,500.

As part of the certification, you’ll prove skills in the installation, monitoring and troubleshooting of network devices in order to maintain confidentiality and availability for both data and device.

    Cisco CCNA Wireless

Prerequisites - Any valid CCENT, CCNA Routing and Switching, or any CCIE certification.
The wireless job market has been expanding at pace for years with companies of all sizes upgrading their infrastructure to include wireless. A study by Canalysshows that Wireless LAN shipments will represent 18% of all enterprise networking value in 2018. As one of the leaders in network innovations, it will come as no surprise that Cisco is already the market leader and actually account for 53%of wireless shipments.

Having a CCNA Wireless certificate on your resume will make it clear to prospective (and current) employers that you can implement and maintain wireless network technology.
If you already work with Cisco network infrastructures the CCNA Wireless will set yourself apart from other candidates and demonstrate a broad range of skills. Alternatively, if you’re already working within the wireless field with other vendor platforms, and you’re interested in expanding into Cisco’s technology, this certificate could prove crucial.
The CCNA Wireless certification demonstrates your knowledge in WLAN fundamentals, basic WLAN security, installation of Cisco LAN networks and WLAN maintenance.

    Cisco CCNA Voice

Prerequisites - Any valid CCENT, CCNA Routing and Switching, or any CCIE certification.
Whilst better known for their network products, Cisco is also a major provider of Voice over IP (VoIP) to enterprises. The CCNA Voice cert is your first step to a career in voice networking. You’ll demonstrate you have the skills needed to deploy and maintain a Cisco Voice infrastructure using technologies like: Voicemail solutions, IP PBX and IP Telephony.

This certification confirms you have the required knowledge for specialized roles in voice technology. It’s a specialised sector, but one that pays well - Cisco Voice Engineers earn an average salary of £40,000 in the UK.

Now’s the time to get an official Cisco certification

The UK’s GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) security arm has just approved a number of CISCO products as secure. The certification allows the products to handle information up to the UK governments “Official” classification and will likely provide a big boost to the value of the Cisco brand.

The Cisco-certified will be amongst those reaping the rewards of this new government support. So what are you waiting for, ride the Cisco wave and get certified

How much revenue do you think the " World Biggest Corporations" earn every minute, This interactive  chart from economist shows how    much  the  biggest  companies earn in  each  second.

In each second this is what the biggest companies earn

      2. Google garners $1,897 and tiny
      3. Twitter ekes out $21. In the interactive chart below, companies race to reach $1m. (Partial spoiler alert: the winner clocks in at 1 minute 6 seconds.)

It offers a fresh look at the relative commercial power of big companies. Professional investors are aware—hopefully—of these differences. But others may be surprised by some of the relationships. Coca-Cola earns more than PepsiCo despite fewer sales. Four great benefits of the PMP certification

      By

Certifications are the perfect indicators of the skills, knowledge and experience you possess in your field of expertise. Whether you’re a network engineer, a software developer or project manager, certifications will always give you the edge over your competition, but this is not the only benefit.

      Project Management Professional (PMP)

PMI’s PMP certification is one of the most prestigious and popular credentials in the project management field. Due to its prominence, project management professionals, more often than not, are inclined to add PMP to their collections. However, getting the cert is not easy, so it’s best to familiarise yourself with the benefits to help you through the process.

How many active PMP certified around the world in 2013?

Entering new circles: Indirect benefits, such as this one, are often overlooked, even though they can turn out to be extremely valuable. Picture this; you are training to get your PMP certification where you meet fellow “PMP-to-be” candidates. This is a fantastic networking opportunity, because you are working towards the same goal, which may be true outside of the classroom as well. Once you have the certification, you are in the elite community of PMPs, where you can continue networking with likeminded professionals.

Prestige and skills:The PMP course will teach you new skills, which you’ll be able put into practice as soon as you’re out of the classroom. But that’s not all! Your certification will also give your personal prestige, as well as your CV a mighty boost. There will be times when those three letters next to your name will be the reason why you are hired over another consultant or freelancer.

Continuous learning:Recruiters, managers and executives are always seeking professionals whose appetite for knowledge is insatiable and who never want to stop learning. Learning is the key to staying on top of what’s changing and evolving around you. Preparing for the PMP certification is a demanding process and it’ll put you in the habit of pursuing knowledge. Never stop learning and you’ll be always a step ahead.

Higher salary: Okay, you would definitely think of this benefit, but we still need to talk about it, because the figures may surprise you. So, intangible and indirect benefits are great, but the most noticeable measure of your career progress is the amount you earn. Adding that PMP credential next to your name can quickly lead to a 20% increase in your salary or billing rate if you’re a consultant. According to itjobswatch.com PMP certified project managers, on average, earn over £58k per year. But that’s not all, 10% of PMPs get even higher paychecks. Experienced, capable and committed project management professionals are offered a salary of more than £85.

Network with your PMP peers, keep learning and exploit all the benefits of your PMP certification, and you can belong to that elite 10%.

Unilever India's Kan Khajura Tesan, Digital Campaign Goes Viral

Until a few years ago most companies looked at online as yet another platform to air their TV commercials. This is not the case any longer. FMCG companies are looking at digital media as a separate platform to engage with their target audience.

      •  Perhaps the most successful digital campaign in the country by an FMCG company has been run by Hindustan Unilever (HUL). The consumer goods giant last year launched a free mobile radio entertainment channel called Kan Khajura Tesan, which can be loosely translated as Centipede Station, in Bihar and Jharkhand.
      •  To access the content, a mobile phone user gives a 'missed call' - the call here gets disconnected automatically after two rings - on a given number. The user is then called back and gets to listen to songs, jokes and, of course, HUL advertisements. The idea behind the campaign was to reach out to consumers who do not have access to TV, radio or the print medium but have a mobile phone.
      • Over the past seven months the radio station has reached out to more than nine million subscribers and HUL ads have been heard 85 million times, the company says. HUL now plans to roll out the channel in other regions.

The State of Global Risk and Opportunities in the Insurance Market :

The matrix  published by Ernst and Young shows the list of nations and analysis of their potentian risk and opportunity, which takes into account the following parameters 1)insurance premium growth 2) macroeconomic environment 3) Regulatory change 4) Liquidity

For most of the past decade, focusing on the BRICs seemed a simple strategy for insurance companies seeking to expand their business in RGMs. In 2007, the average growth of these four economies was 9.6%. Today, however, growth in the BRIC economies has slowed markedly, especially in Brazil and India. According to recent forecasts from Oxford Economics, the average growth rate of real GDP in the BRICs was 4.3% in 2012, and that rate is expected to rebound only modestly, to about 5.6%, between now and 2018.  However Brazil is considered  a country that " can continue to see a moderate to high growth ,as it has the third-largest forecast growth in insurance premiums in US dollar terms, following China and India

Growth in other RGMs will be affected by this deceleration. As the matrix below illustrates, countries such as China, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Malaysia and Mexico offer intriguing near-term growth potential, with modest risk. Nations such as Turkey and Indonesia offer even higher growth potential but also exhibit greater risks.

Safe cloud computing is great cloud computing – secure it with these certs

      By

Earlier this month Tech Times and Top Tech Newspublished two articles regarding some newly surfacing concerns about security in the cloud. Do businesses have to be worried about storing their data in those remotely located servers? Is the cloud more risky than storing your data locally? This article will discover how cloud computing can be made safer with the help of the relevant certifications.

Data breach: could the cloud triple the odds?

The latest study (Data Breach: The Cloud Multiplier Effect) by the Ponemon Institute revealed that IT security professionals expect that moving their data to the cloud will increase the chances of getting hit by a data breach. In fact, the 613 surveyed pros agreed that an increased use of cloud computing could potentially triple the risks of a data breach.

Rajat Bhargava, co-founder of JumpCloud, said "When you don't own the network, it's open to the rest of the world, and you don't control the layers of the stack, the cloud - by definition - is more insecure than storing data on premises." This surely sounds alarming coming from a cloud security professional, but don’t go switching that local server in your basement back on just yet, because Chris Wysopal begs to differ.

      Secure the “third-party element”

Chris Wysopal, co-founder and CTO of Veracode thinks: “Risky software, regardless of deployment method, is what is adding unnecessary risk to organisations.”

“Enterprises are right to be wary of third-party cloud applications. However, this should have nothing to do with whether they are in the cloud or not. Instead it is because they are produced by third-parties, and thus enterprises have less insight into the security that went into the development. If an enterprise wants to reduce unnecessary risk at their company, avoiding the cloud isn’t going to protect them – but taking a hard look at their software procurement policies and processes will.”

      Get familiar with cloud security

As you can see, it is misleading to state and conclude that cloud computing – by default – brings greater risks to your business; you just need to thoroughly check your provider’s security standards and measures. But are you familiar with security in the cloud?

Learn all about security concepts, encryption technologies and access control methods on our cloud computing courses. Pick from the likes of CompTIA’s Cloud+ and Cloud Essentials or Microsoft’s MCSE: Private Cloud and you’ll learn everything you need to know about secure cloud computing.
